Adopt A Park Program
The city's Adopt-A-Park Program greatly improves the appearance of city parks throughout Trotwood. It eases the load on Public Works crews, enabling them to devote more time to other maintenance projects, and it rewards volunteers with great civic pride in knowing they've made a huge difference in their community.
How it Works
Groups or organizations adopt an assigned park and agree to visit it at least 3 times a year to help keep it clean and report conditions that may require further attention by Public Works crews. Adopt-A-Park participants are asked to:
Participant Responsibilities
- Clean and rake children's play areas
- Clean picnic tables and benches
- Pick up litter
- Plant flowers or trees
- Report unsafe conditions and structures needing repair
- Report vandalism damage, graffiti, and unclean restrooms
- Sweep court surfaces, trails, and sidewalks
- Weed flowerbeds
City responsibilities
- Assist with safety meetings
- Pick up collected litter at specific prearranged park locations
- Post Adopt-A-Park signs recognizing the volunteer group at the park entrance
- Provide gloves, safety vests, trash pickers and garbage bags
