Criminal Investigation
Trotwood's Detective Section is responsible for investigating all felony crimes and some misdemeanors. They work hard to reduce the community's overall felony crime rate by increasing their case clearance rate. The Detective section includes 1 Sergeant and 6 Detectives, and 1 Evidence Custodian.
The Detective Section is responsible for:
- Coordinating with local, state, and federal agencies
- Determining trends in criminal activity
- Preparing cases with the Montgomery County Prosecutor's Office
- Working with the Montgomery County Regional Crime Lab
- Working with the Patrol Section in deterring crime

In addition to Special Investigations, The Trotwood Police Department monitors National, State, and Local Domestic Criminal Activity and trends concerning Homeland Security.
