Scope of Selection Process:

3. Certification of Eligibility List
Three (3) years of cumulative FULL-TIME fire service experience OR be a current full-time Firefighter/Paramedic with Trotwood Fire & Rescue and have Three (3) years of uninterrupted employment as a Trotwood Fire & Rescue Firefighter/EMT-B/Paramedic.
Obtain within one (1) year after appointment date, Fire Officer I & II that meets or exceeds NFPA 1021 Fire Officer Professional Qualifications.
Obtain within two (2) years after appointment date, State of Ohio Fire Instructor certification that meets or exceeds NFPA 1041: Fire Service Instructor Professional Qualifications.
Obtain within one (1) year after appointment date, State of Ohio Continuing Education Instructor (CEU) for EMS education.
Associate’s Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school with major course work in Fire Science or a related field and/or advanced technical training in Fire Science is desirable or any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential function of the job.
Satisfactory Job Performance as determined in the employee evaluation process.
Pass the written exam with a minimum passing score of 70%.
Nature of Work:
This position is responsible for supervisory and technical firefighting work in directing and coordinating duty assignments, fire suppression, emergency medical service, hazardous material and fire and EMS prevention duties on an assigned shift. Directly responsible for training, safety, production, quality of performance, cost control, and methods utilized by their subordinates. This position will also be responsible for station security, equipment and supplies.
Starting Salary: $22.38
