“The North Community Connector will be the first of several future community connector routes. It is a way to directly bridge communities as these connectors will not come into downtown Dayton. Instead, they will predominantly travel east and west, north and south outside of the greater downtown area. Additional connectors will be rolled out as RTA is able to hire more drivers.
The North Community Connector and adjusted Route 22 will be replacing the Route 34 in northern Montgomery County. It will stretch from Union Road and Main Street in Trotwood, along Shiloh Springs, Shoup Mill and Needmore roads, before ending near the Kroger along Brandt Pike in northeast Dayton. The North Community Connector will intersect with 10 other RTA routes, and serve the Northwest Transit Center as it travels east and west. RTA worked with the city of Trotwood to ensure this new route served current and future economic development sites in Trotwood. Several important locations will be served such as Trotwood-Madison High School, Dayton Metro Library Trotwood branch, the future Goodwill Easterseals branch, Montgomery County Western Division Courthouse and Trotwood Senior Lofts.
The RTA believes the North Community Connector, and the creation of other connectors to come, will ultimately create better connections and more direct access to jobs, health care, and education opportunities, providing an increase in transportation equity.”
