[Trotwood, Ohio – June 4, 2020] – Mayor Mary A. McDonald and city of Trotwood officials are scheduling a press conference on Friday, June 5, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. at the Trotwood Community & Cultural Arts Center Council Chambers, 4000 Lake Center Drive, Trotwood, Ohio.

The city of Trotwood is aware of a peaceful protest and march scheduled for Saturday, June 6, 2020, at Madison Park located at 301 S. Broadway Street, Trotwood, Ohio 45426. The peaceful demonstration is scheduled to start at 11AM.

The city of Trotwood is a community of unity and committed to protecting the rights of citizens to peacefully assemble and petition the government for a redress of grievances. This fundamental right of democracy is at the core of our First Amendment. However, we do not support violence, the destruction of private property or behavior that puts anyone’s safety at risk.

“We stand in solidarity with peaceful protestors and demand reform and change for all families that have lost loved ones,” said Trotwood Mayor Mary A. McDonald.

“There is no greater fundamental right of the people than to be able to voice their opinions, perceptions, and thoughts peacefully without fear of retribution. This is America,” said Trotwood City Manager Quincy E. Pope Sr.

“James Baldwin said not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced. At this time, we face a need to have open discussion and dialogue on the treatment of all Americans regardless of race, color, or creed,” said Trotwood Police Chief Erik L. Wilson.
