PRESS RELEASE
CITY OF TROTWOOD
PLAQUE TO COMMEMORATE THE 2019 TORNADO

On Friday, May 22, 2020, Trotwood Mayor Mary McDonald will unveil a
plaque at the Trotwood Community and Cultural Arts Center to
commemorate the 2019 tornado that impacted the Trotwood community.
Fifteen tornadoes tore through the Miami Valley on Monday, May 27, 2019,
and many lives were forever changed. The largest tornado devastated the
Trotwood community, but first responders were immediately out in the
community assessing damage, clearing roads, and getting our citizens out
of harm’s way. Together with thousands of volunteers, citizens were
gathered from damaged housing and apartment structures and temporary
housing was immediately found.

This plaque will display a reminder of the community’s strength and
endurance and the resilience of the citizens of Trotwood for years to come.

Due to COVID-19 and to comply with the Stay Safe Ohio Order, this event
will be broadcast live on Facebook beginning at 10:30 a.m.
