City of Trotwood and Arcadia officials conduct a site tour and inspection of the Pleasant Wood Apartment campus

Officials from the City of Trotwood, in working with the cooperation of Arcadia, recently conducted a site tour and inspection of the Pleasant Wood Apartment campus, which includes both a nursing home facility and a multi-unit residential apartment complex.

Following the inspection, officials confirmed that the nursing home portion of the campus appears to be in compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations. However, the apartment buildings on the site remain in violation of Trotwood’s zoning code, according to city representatives.

As a result of the zoning noncompliance, the City of Trotwood has issued a cease-and-desist order related to the apartment buildings. The property owners have filed an appeal of the order, which is currently under review.

City officials emphasize that current residents living in the Pleasant Wood apartments and employees working at the nursing home will not be affected by the cease-and-desist order.

“The health and safety of residents and workers remain our top priority,” said Trotwood City Manager Quincy E. Pope Sr. “We are committed to ensuring compliance with all local ordinances while minimizing disruption to those who live and work on the property.”

Further updates will be provided as the appeal process moves forward.
