The Trotwood Police Department is inviting members of the Trotwood community 18 years of age or older to participate in the 2014 Trotwood Citizen’s Police Academy. The academy is free and open to the public. The purpose of this program is to build a better understanding between the citizens and the police. We want to show the community what the Police do and why we do it.
Our spring session will start Wednesday, May 28, 2014 and will run for nine weeks through to July 23rd. Classes will be held on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. It is recommended that students attend the entire nine week academy. The success of this program is directly related to the commitment of its participants.
Topics to be covered include patrol functions, use of force, role play scenarios, K-9 demonstrations, detective operations, and other important topics. Participants will also be encouraged to participate on a ride-along with an on-duty police officer. Registration packets can be picked up at Trotwood Police Department between 8:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday, or contact our office and one can be emailed out.
Class size is limited to the first 10 students and you must be 18 years of age to participate. You can apply if you live outside the City of Trotwood but first preference will be given to Trotwood Residents. All participants will be required to submit to a background checks.
