The application for small businesses to apply for grants from the CARES Act is available now.

Montgomery County’s small businesses drive our local economy. We know the COVID-19 pandemic has been difficult for many businesses and workers. To help you recover from these losses, we’ve set aside $40 million just for our county’s small businesses.

To be eligible for these funds, you must be able to prove that the pandemic has had a negative impact on your business. These funds must be used for working capital such as utilities, rent, mortgage, technology, personal protective equipment (PPE) or other operating expenses.

The Office of CARES Act has created a web-based system to take applications for these grants. Businesses will have until Nov. 30, 2020 to apply, or until CARES Act funds are depleted.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

REQUIREMENTS FOR SMALL BUSINESSES INCLUDE:

The applicant must be a small business with 50 or fewer employees
Must have less than $5 million gross revenue
Must be located in Montgomery County, Ohio
You can qualify for this grant even if you’ve received funds from the Paycheck Protection Program or SBA’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan program
Must have a physical storefront (restaurant, bar, retail, barbershop, etc.) and/or be an allowable home office as reported in most recent filed tax return
Must be current on all state, federal, and local taxes
Must be in compliance with State of Ohio small business requirements
Must retain one full-time employee for at least three months after grant award
