Community Paramedicine is a newer concept in EMS and will evolve with the community’s needs. The intent of the program is to help the community live better and healthier lives by addressing all issues that contribute to health outcomes.

Community paramedicine is a program where paramedics, the people who usually respond to emergencies and take people to the hospital, work in a different way to help keep people healthy in their communities. Instead of only coming when someone calls 911 because of an emergency, community paramedics visit people in their homes or communities to check on them before things get really bad. The goal of community paramedicine is to prevent health problems before they happen and help citizens get the care they need from the comfort of their homes by addressing the social determinants of health, providing in-home education, reducing falls, reducing hospital readmissions, and more.
