(DAYTON, OHIO) … The Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority (RTA) will implement the next phase of its transit system redesign by making changes to Route 14, offering a more flexible way to travel for customers with RTA’s Connect On-Demand service, effective Sunday, October 16, 2022. RTA’s Connect On-Demand service allows customers to travel with ease with flexible scheduling.
While Route 14 will no longer run north of Wright Stop Plaza, riders who currently use Route 14 north from downtown along Salem Avenue can take Route 8. The remaining section of Route 14, from Curundu Avenue and Salem Avenue to the Northwest Transit Center, will be served by RTA’s Connect On-Demand service, Connect Zone 3. Customers can begin utilizing On-Demand today within this area. RTA staff will be traveling on Route 14 within this area over the coming weeks to provide On-Demand information.
RTA’s Connect On-Demand offers door-to-door service within specific areas of the Miami Valley where bus route service is unavailable or limited. Currently, there is no charge when traveling within these four On-Demand areas. The service is available from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m., 7 days a week, by booking with the Lyft or Uber app, or by making a reservation with RTA Customer Service. Trips can be requested as needed or scheduled in advance. Recurring trips can also be scheduled but are subject to availability. Wait times may also vary based on availability. RTA’s transit system redesign is based on customer feedback, and analysis of ridership on routes, specific trips, and time periods. The transit system redesign plan was developed in order to meet the community’s transportation needs. You can find your route information at www.iriderta.org.
