Mayor's Message

In public service, transparency builds trust, especially in a time when so many decisions are made behind closed doors and without the consent of the people. I strongly believe that transparency is essential to meaningful representation and positive outcomes in any situation.

In the spirit of openness, I want to share a personal update after experiencing an unexpected cardiac emergency that required immediate medical treatment. I am immensely grateful for the exceptional care I received from all of the medical professionals who cared for me, as well as the outpouring of prayers, encouragement, and support from my family, friends, colleagues, and the many members of our community and surrounding areas.

I am making steady progress in my recovery, and while I take the time needed to fully heal, know that my commitment to serving the City remains unchanged. Given the structure of our City’s government, municipal operations remain fully secure, and I have complete confidence in our Council and staff as they keep our key projects moving forward with the high level of care and professionalism our community deserves.

Trotwood citizens, a medical emergency can happen to any one of us, as it just happened to me. If not for God, I would not be here today. As I focus on my recovery, I ask each of you to pay close attention to your health. I experienced an undetected cardiac event without any warning – please don't wait for your own warning sign. I ask for your continued prayers, patience, and understanding as I navigate these uncharted waters with an attached defibrillator. Always carry your emergency contacts and medical information with you. If you have underlying health conditions, consider wearing a medical alert bracelet or device. Seconds can save lives – they certainly saved mine.

It is an honor and a privilege to serve as your Mayor. Transparency and serving with decency and order will always guide my leadership. I am driven by your confidence in me and by our shared vision for the City of Trotwood. People still ask if I enjoy being Mayor, and my answer is simple: I love being Mayor, but only in the City of Trotwood.
