City of Trotwood to Increase Open Government and Legislative Efficiency Online

Trotwood, Ohio – The City of Trotwood just implemented a new software system that will make their legislative management process more efficient and transparent, and which will cut numerous costs. This project is a significant step in Trotwood’s budget reduction and open government initiatives, as it will reduce the amount of staff time needed to introduce, manage, and track legislation through the democratic process.

“As a municipality, it is our responsibility to our residents that we become more efficient, eliminate waste and provide increasingly better services. What we’ve achieved here is the next step in becoming a smarter and more responsive government for our citizens,” said Michael J. Lucking, City Manager. He continued, “By automating our internal processes, we are able to automate open government. The public research tools now available on our website provide all of Trotwood’s business, including all legislation, its entire history with all votes at every stage, supporting documentation and even meeting attendance reports.”

Beginning Monday, October 7, 2013, to access the Council Meeting documents, simply click on the City’s website at www.trotwood.org. On the homepage, click on “City Leadership;” scroll down and click on “City Council Meeting Info.” A new screen will appear that will have two tabs called “List View” and “Calendar View.” Click on the “List View” tab to see a listing of all upcoming Council meetings or workshops. Now look under the right-hand columns titled “Meeting Details,” “Agenda,” or “Minutes.” When a document is ready to view, it will appear in blue type. Simply click on it to open it up; it can also be printed once it is opened.

Questions may be directed to Sandy Riege, Clerk of Council, at 937/854-7212 or by email at sriege@trotwood.org.
