Montgomery County to Host Appliance Amnesty Weekend

Charles WheelerCommunity News

Montgomery County Environmental Services will host its Appliance Amnesty Weekend June 5-7, where county residents can dispose of large appliances free of charge.
Appliances such as refrigerators, air conditioners, water heaters and stoves will be accepted for free with proof of residency at the Montgomery County Solid Waste District Transfer & Recycling Facility, 1001 Encrete Lane. Drop-off dates and times are from 6 a.m.-7 p.m. June 5-6, and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. June 7.
Montgomery County Environmental Services offers special disposal programs to prevent illegal dumping, promote recycling and protect soil and waterways from pollution or contamination. A licensed technician on site will safely remove and dispose of refrigerants such as Freon. Metal components will be recycled.
Microwaves, small countertop appliances and outdoor grills are not part of this free program but will be accepted for a nominal fee.
Appliance Amnesty Weekend only occurs twice a year.
Appliances are accepted at the facility year-round. However, residents are charged a small fee.
