The Trotwood Police Department has one canine unit; Sergeant Brent Rasor and K-9 Officer Atos.
Both Sergeant Brent Rasor and K-9 Atos were last certified in October 2017 in Patrol duties and narcotics detection.
Over the past four years the team has been successful in the seizure of drugs, money, and contraband, and has been involved in numerous apprehensions. The K-9 team is considered one of the top and most successful K9 units in the Miami Valley region and has also been instrumental in finding missing children and elderly Alzheimer’s patients.
Sgt. Rasor and Atos are called upon to assist several area task forces listed below during special investigations and service of search warrants.

- United States Secret Service (presidential detail)
K-9 Officer Atos is a Belgian Malinois, especially efficient and apt for employment in law enforcement work. He has the capability to be utilized in either patrol or drug duties and is often called to respond outside Trotwood’s boundaries for multi-jurisdictional response.
The team is a member of NAPWDA (North American Police Work Dog Association) and are certified yearly through OPOTA, (Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy), for Narcotics Detection and Patrol Duties.
