Mayor Mary A. McDonald

Mary McDonald
Mayor Mary A. McDonald has served the City of Trotwood for 3 terms as the City Council member representing Ward 4 and was elected Mayor in November 2015. Her passion has been working with the citizens of the Trotwood community to empower them in taking "pride and ownership" in their community. She has initiated several community cleanups and beautification initiatives within her ward, made strong inroads to networking on a local and state basis to benefit the City of Trotwood, as well as working to improve all aspects of service, economic development opportunities, and quality of life factors.

Community Involvement

Having a faith-based upbringing, her core beliefs are in serving the people she uncompromisingly represents. She has volunteered countless hours to the development of many citizen driven efforts as well as supported the faith-based community whenever called upon. Currently, she is serving as a board member of the Trotwood Peace Place. This organization works with young people in the development of necessary skill sets in the area of constructive conflict resolution. At a time when young people are in need of useful character building tools, she finds work in this area both rewarding and helpful to the youth of the Trotwood community.

Trotwood Women's Association

Mayor McDonald is the founder and organizer of the Trotwood Women's Association. Under her leadership, she and her committee members have developed several community activities, including Trotwood Mother and Father of the Year recognitions, Thanksgiving food baskets, the City of Trotwood Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration, and the Trotwood Christmas Gift Giving project that she has hosted from her own home.  This is the second year for this project where she partnered with the local VFW Post 4270 and Trotwood City Schools Board Member Denise Moore.  In 2015, we provided gift baskets to over 100 veteran women of Trotwood and the Greater Miami Valley.  We are looking forward to doubling this number this year.

Mayor McDonald is the owner of the True Style Hair Salon. She has been a salon owner and stylist for over 27 years. As a special volunteer effort, she gives her support to cancer survivors by supporting them in the rebuilding of their self-confidence as it relates to hair and skin reconstruction. Mayor McDonald is a State of Ohio licensed Cosmetology Instructor and Manager. Her mantra is "It's all about service to others."
